Penang State Government Introduces B40 Education Initiative with UNITAR

Petaling Jaya, 24 July 2023 – The Penang State Government has introduced the B40 Education initiative to provide lifelong learning opportunities to Penangites.

A total of 20 full scholarships worth RM 1 Million was made available for B40 Penangites to pursue tertiary education programmes at UNITAR International University (“UNITAR”) with the encouragement of TYT Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi Bin Haji Abdul Razak, Governor of Penang. A scholarship awarding ceremony was held at Seri Mutiara, official residence of the Governor of Penang, for those pursuing either Foundation or Diploma programmes who will continue their studies to a Bachelor’s Degree programme.

The initiative in the form of a scholarship covered the entire tuition and accommodation fees of UNITAR students, requiring them to fulfil the following criteria before being allocated the agreed amount: a resident in Penang within the B40 category, SPM qualified students and met the entry requirements of the Foundation/Diploma programmes.

Under the Penang State Government initiative, successful applicants could pursue conventional or online programmes at UNITAR’s Main Campus in Kelana Jaya. The scholarship is an all-in-one offer that fully covers all fees for the entire duration of a student’s tenure at UNITAR.

Dr. Sahol Hamid Bin Abu Bakar.
